Dear Friends,
I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Brookline School Committee.
ABOUT DR. FAIZA KHAN.
Brookline has been my home since 2000, when I moved here with my husband, and we started our family. In those twenty-six years, we raised four children who attended the Michael Driscoll School and graduated from Brookline High School. I am a public-school educator and district-level administrator with more than 15 years of experience as a teacher and an administrator in curriculum development, budgeting, and school governance. As the Director of Mathematics for the Medford Schools, I work closely with the superintendent, assistant superintendents, educators, and parents to create pathways for students to reach their full potential.
I have a Doctor of Education in Leadership in Schooling, with a focus on educational governance, budgeting, and systems-level decision-making. This training informs how I approach policy: by analyzing tradeoffs, anticipating the impacts of policy decisions, and centering decisions on student outcomes while maintaining public trust. I also hold a master’s degree in business administration, which I use to analyze the long-term financial implications of educational priorities, so we can better serve all our students and support our teachers while maintaining public trust.
MY GOALS.
As a member of the School Committee, I will work to ensure that all students reach their full potential, that schools treat students with equity, compassion, and dignity, while striving to understand each student’s unique strengths and challenges. I am committed to ensuring that policy decisions align our educational priorities with our fiscal realities and communicate the necessary trade-offs to the community. I will work with all stakeholders to ensure that the schools and our students’ needs are broadly supported by the community.
As a long-time Brookline homeowner, I will continue to be interested in the success of the Brookline schools, even though my children have graduated. Guaranteeing the very best education for all of our students is the foundation of a thriving Town and a reason for all residents to work for the success of our schools.
WORKING TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
I believe that I can make a difference for our children and for our Town on the School Committee, but I can’t do it alone. I will work collaboratively with other School Committee members to ensure that all policy decisions have a positive educational impact, are fiscally responsible, and are based on smart planning and a long-term vision.
We are not alone. With my School Committee colleagues, we can reach out to all stakeholders to build strong community partnerships and work with the Town Meeting, the Select Board, the Advisory Committee, and Town staff through open, consistent, and transparent communication.
With strong partnerships, we can better address school issues and plan effectively for the long term, avoiding crisis-driven budgeting and delivering fiscally prudent educational excellence.
WHAT MOTIVATES ME TO SERVE.
Having four children, each child unique in their own way, who attended Driscoll and Brookline High School, I recognize parents’ hopes for a school system that meets every child where they are and elevates them to reach their full potential. That has been my family's experience in Brookline, and as a member of the School Committee, I will work to ensure it is the experience of all families.
I ASK FOR YOUR VOTE ON MAY 5TH, 2026.
Thank you,
Dr. Faiza Khan
